The Gospel of Jesus Christ
The Need for Salvation... The Need for Jesus
We All Have Sinned
No matter how hard we try no one can achieve perfection; no one can be perfect in heart and in deed all of the time, after all we are only human. Everyone has sinned, everyone at one point or another has done something or thought something they're not proud of, something that they would not like anyone else to know about in most cases let alone God. This is part of being human. The Bible tells us, "...There is none righteous, no, not one." - (Romans 3:10)
You need to know that God loves you, He loved you yesterday, today and tomorrow. God knows what and who you are, despite that He loves you. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son that whoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - (John 3:16)
God through His love gave you a way to be with Him forever, it's Gods will that everyone be saved. God gave us a way to be with Him that doesn't require perfection, that doesn't require a life of constant searching for perfection and its through His grace. The Bible says, "For by grace you are saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, Not by works lest any man should boast." - (Ephesians 2:8,9)
God is here to meet you where you are; reach out to Him, take the gift He has given for you... Jesus gave everything so it would cost us nothing, all we need to do is in faith, believing in Him, accept the gift of salvation that only Jesus can provide.
What is the Gospel
Did you know God wants to have a relationship with you and did you know God gave you a way to receive forgiveness? People do things that are wrong, we can lie, cheat, steal, hurt others, the list could on and on. We know we are not perfect though try as we might no one can acheive perfection all or even most of the time, and God knows that! And thats why He gave us the gift of salvation through the forgiveness of sins. Has the Bible says "For by grace you are saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, Not by works lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9) That gift is Jesus, the only Son of God, Jesus who came to earth and lived a sinless life.
Though innocent He paid the price for us, He was crucified on a cross at a location called Calvary, placed in a tomb after He was confirmed dead by the Roman soldiers. Jesus received the penalty that we deserved and with that act, Jesus paid the price for us once and for all, so that through Him we can be forgiven of our sins and have a relationship with God. Jesus death on the Cross paid the price for our sin and His resurrection three days later guarantees God's promise of salvation through Jesus, the Bible says...
God is just and because of his nature sin can not go unpunished, God can not look the other way or excuse what we have done wrong. We can not just do something good in order to erase our sin and God knows that, and thats where Jesus comes in He took our punishment and paid the price for man's sin so we would not have to; He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. He was crucified and placed in a tomb, three days later he arose, physically came back to life. Jesus (God in the flesh) conquered death, the Resurrection had taken place! Jesus was witnessed for forty days afterwards and then ascended into Heaven in front of hundreds of witnesses. That is where He is today, He is our advocate, our Savior so that through him we can have salvation and be forgiven of our sins and go to Heaven. This act of redemption and forgiveness is the Gospel Message, and is often just called the Gospel, or The Gospel of Jesus Christ. The word Gospel means "Good News"
How Can I Be Saved
Jesus died on the cross for you and you can receive forgiveness for your sins by asking Jesus into your life. Jesus will not reject you He is wating to forgive you, God has provided His grace to everyone and all we need to do is ask Him for it through His Son. If you are willing to repent (meaning turn away from you sins), admit you are a sinner and genuinely seek forgiveness Jesus will forgive you. The Bible promises forgiveness for those who call on the name of Jesus. To be a Christian means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, accepting and believing on Jesus is the foundation of Christianity and what Christianity is all about. That relationship has to be a personal one on your part, it's not good enough if a friend or relative knows Jesus, you must have that relationship for your self. If you are trully repented and want forgiveness for your sins and you truly want to believe then from your heart can pray this prayer...
- For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son that whoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
"Jesus forgive me for my sin I admit that I am a sinner, I am asking you into my life, take away my sins. Jesus come into my life fill my heart and make it yours, show me your will for my life. Jesus I am calling you to forgive me for my sins and in Your name I pray - Amen"
If you prayed this prayer and you truly meant it from your heart, then you are saved by the Grace of God through His Son Jesus. "YOU ARE SAVED!" You are now part of the family of God forgiven in the eyes of God.
What's The Next Step
Now you have begun your relationship with God, you are part of his family. Has in any relationship you need to spend time getting to know each other. The best way to do that is to read His word. God gave us His words, a perfect way to get to know Him, and thats by reading the Bible. We can learn a lot about God and His nature by reading the Bible, you can read here online or download your own HTML version. The next step is to get into fellowship with other Christians, in other words join a local Church in your area that teaches the Bible. Also remember to pray regularly, its through prayer that we learn to speak to God and develop that personal relationship with him. Does God know what your going to ask before you ask it, of course yes, but He still wants to hear from you. Just as you like speaking to the ones you love because it builds the relationship stronger, Christians use prayer to help us build our relationship with God. Remember the three foundations of building a Christian life and growing in your relationship with God is by...
- Regular Prayer
- Reading Your Bible
- Christian Fellowship
Read Your Bible
One of the most important habits that a Christian can develop is to read their Bible on a regular basis. The Bible is Gods word preserved for us through the ages, in order to know Gord better you have to become familiar with His word. The Bible says... "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - (Hebrews 4:12)
